The women's football section of FC Twente was founded in 2007. It plays in the Dutch top level league, the Eredivisie. The team won the championship in 2011.
History
The team played its first match in the Eredivisie on 29 August 2007, it was also the very fist match of the Eredivisie in its inaugural season.[1]
The team achieved midfield places in its first seasons finishing 5th of 6 in 2008, 5th of 7 in 2009 and 4th of 6 in 2010. In the 2010/11 season the team played successful and clinched the championship on the last matchday with a 4-1 win over Willem II. With the title the team also qualified for the 2011–12 UEFA Women's Champions League, where it will meet Russian side Rossiyanka in the round of 32.
